When CNN correspondent Anderson Cooper, heard that some of the toxins in his blood came from the cosmetics he was required to wear for his daily program, he said, "This is a potential lawsuit against CNN." (Watch the video here.)

I about fell out of my chair when I heard him say this. I could not believe it. Watch the video. At Trivani we boldly declared, over 18 months ago, that toxins found in personal care products would be the next major industry/consumer cover-up scandal, just like the tobacco/nicotine issue, and that it would go down as the biggest consumer product cover up of all time.

Day 1

Two New Announcements That Completely Change the Game!

It was an incredible opening to a fantastic, revelatory day! In the morning we celebrated the Purpose of Trivani and rejoiced in the relief that Trivani distributors have made possible for children in third world countries.

In the afternoon, leaders learned about two new exciting developments that will have dramatic impacts on your Trivani business!
The first was the announcement that the EPA is going to require sweeping controls, testing and standards to protect children and all Americans from chemicals in the environment and in common consumer goods. The government has confirmed what Trivani has been saying all along!

This is the type of announcement that strikes fear in the hearts of major companies. It means complete overhauls of systems, production, finances, marketing, etc. And it means years of change before they are ready to comply. But the consumer is ready now! The announcement has been made, and the knowledge is out there. Who is ready right now? Trivani! Who has the products that consumers can turn to with complete trust and confidence? We do! We always have, and we always will. This announcement by the EPA has changed the entire game for cosmetic and personal care product companies. These are just a few comments overheard at the incredible Leadership Conference this past weekend. It surpassed even the expectations of all in attendance. Day 1 started our Leadership Conference off on a high note, focusing on the compassion of Trivani’s mission, the announcement of new tools, and we had excellent motivational speakers. Then, on day 2, we jumped right into the consumption that makes that compassion possible. The first revelation of the day was Trivani’s newest product: Yauvana! Dee is so enthusiastic about our 100% organic rosehip seed oil that she insisted on unveiling it herself. Excitement for the new product was so high that we had to take a break to open the store where the newest product flew off the shelves.

But there was still so much to talk about. Shane McClellan took the stage to talk seriously about the 287 campaign and the impact that dangerous chemicals are having on unwitting consumers. Many distributors also shared with the audience how then had achieved success.

After lunch, we had some fun with product demonstrations that showed the startling contrast between Trivani’s Do No Harm products and some of the industry’s leading competitors. Audience members gasped at the effects and took rapid notes so that they could re-create the demonstrations at home.

Jason Golly and Paul Jensen took the stage once more to lead everyone through a detailed examination of the new Life-Line compensation system and the upcoming online recruiting program. With additional presentations about TrivaniLive and Starfish, distributors were almost overwhelmed with the amount of information they received at this year’s Leadership Conference. One distributor remarked that all of the presentations were so great that he had to take a break simply to take it all in.

The crowning event at this year’s Leadership Conference had to be the awards gala dinner on Saturday night. The crowd rose to their feet in an enthusiastic standing ovation as United Nation’s representative and “Humanitarian of the Year” award winner, Padma Venkataraman, took the stage. Padma was joined by Becky Douglas, founder of the Rising Star Outreach program in India. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Becky and Padma described the phenomenal missions of mercy going on in the leper colonies of India. Children who were once shunned as outcasts are being healed, educated, and trained to become the leaders of tomorrow. Lives are being turned around in dramatic ways. Megan McMillan, Managing Director of Trivani Foundation, had an opportunity to converse with Padma Venkataraman before her presentation. “She is remarkable,” Megan said. “She’s so brilliant and yet so humble…a truly outstanding human being.”

You know what they say about timing..., and timing could not be better for the consumer advocates of Trivani! The EPA has just announced sweeping changes. It’s as if they read the Trivani Product Mission on safe personal care products and then carefully crafted their plan to remove proven toxins!

Trivani has led the charge in the safe product movement. We have said from the beginning that unacknowledged toxins and carcinogens in personal care products is one of the great consumer cover-ups of all time…maybe the greatest. Now the whistle has been blown on every company that has irresponsibly manufactured these harmful pollutants.

While we are thrilled that the EPA has finally decided to crack down on the personal care products industry, it will still take a while, years maybe, for companies and government to work through policies and procedures and get their products in line with new government requirements. Great Trivani Humanitarian: Dr. Gerald Bresnahan

Dr. Gerald Bresnahan is a good friend, a passionate child sponsor, and a great humanitarian. For the past 20 years, he has also been the on-call physician to the President of the United States and visiting dignitaries. As a cardiologist, Gerald is the man whom kings, queens and presidents literally trust with their hearts.

And Dr. Gerald Bresnahan is a fan of Trivani.

Gerald first heard about Trivani when he was speaking at an event in South Korea. Someone asked him what he thought about Trivani, and Gerald, never having heard of us before, went home and looked us up on the internet. He was so intrigued that he and his wife Lyn traveled to Trivani headquarters and spent an entire day with me. When he left, he told his wife, “This is the real thing, and I want to get involved.” Gerald Bresnahan volunteered to be the Chair of the Trivani Medical Advisory Board, and we have been honored and lucky to have him.

Trivani in Cambodia

Two incredible people spent the day with us last Monday. Mya and Julie, two amazing Child Guardians, brought an ambassador from Cambodia to Trivani headquarters in Springville to discuss a great humanitarian project they are undertaking north of the Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh.

It was fun to discuss the many humanitarian projects that are underway in Cambodia.

In the 1970’s Cambodia experienced a horrible genocide at the hands of the dictator Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. Most of Cambodia’s educated professionals, teachers, doctors, etc. were kidnapped, murdered, or forced to work in labor camps. Thankfully, that regime was overthrown, but Cambodia is still trying to emerge from that terrible ordeal, and for most of the poorer population, a good, effective education is almost impossible.

Trivani is working to help Cambodia’s poor, rural families improve their condition through educational opportunities. Trivani’s Kravanh Bright Future Center (KBFC) is making huge strides towards this goal. The Hong Kong meetings were fantastic!

What a pleasure it was to meet the great leaders in Hong Kong who are leading the charge. This is a market with great potential, and it is, of course, the gateway to China.

I admire the tenacious work ethic of these amazing people. They take business very seriously, and they take their MLM businesses very seriously as well. It is great to work with leaders that recognize that sustained effort is a requirement for success, as is a solid business plan and a system that can be monitored from day to day. They love to measure results, set benchmarks, and report their successes.

Trivani In Taipei!

It was a jam-packed house in Taipei last week. Once again, Victor, Alexis and the other great leaders of Taiwan pulled off a spectacular event. It was great to see distributors from all over Asia attend this energy-filled humanitarian party.

Dee was on hand to deliver a powerful speech about the product mission and where we are headed as a corporation. Kosugi-san, the President of Trivani Japan, was also there to greet the amazing Taiwan distributors and was introduced as the newly appointed manager of Taiwan.

Special thanks to Winnie, Anita, Geoff and Mike for the tremendous support they give to this rapidly expanding market. It has been quite a fast paced growth market.

The office is up and running, and we have lots of new Guardians pouring in. It is a lot of fun to see the Trivani Humanitarian Army developing quickly in Asia.

The official prelaunch of Taiwan has been set for October 31st. Hopefully, those of you with prospects can join us!

Japan’s Grand Launch was an absolute sensation!

A jam-packed house celebrated Monday, late into the evening, as we concluded our official Grand Launch ceremony in Tokyo.

Trivani has been crowned by the media as one of the fastest growing companies in all of Japan. We are shattering growth records in the largest network marketing country in the world! Our early success is nearly beyond description, and the market is poised for even greater growth and acceleration.

New Water Pipe in Taru Improves Education

July 15, 2009

November 2008 saw the completion of construction on the new water pipe in Taru that brings clean water directly to the school. All of the charitable projects that Trivani undertakes are aimed at improving the education and quality of life for children around the world. The new Taru water pipe is no exception. The immediate supply of clean water, right at the school itself, has improved the health and test scores of the Taru school children. So how does the flow of water facilitate the flow of knowledge?

Before the Taru pipe project, school children spent much of their time making the three kilometer walk to their original water source. And that was just one way. This was their only source of water not only for drinking but for toilets, general cleaning, cooking, and watering plant seedlings. Taru is an arid place and farming provides barely enough food for a typical household of 6-8. With a new, much closer water source, children were freed from this time-consuming chore. School attendance has risen steadily ever since the pipe project was undertaken. Students also have more time for reading and study. In addition to attendance, Trivani has seen an increase in the children's grades.

A big factor in the school children's increased attendance and school grades is their improved health. Here Trivani has seen significant increases since the pipe project was completed. In school Term 2 of 2008, before the pipe project had begun, there 43 reported complaints of stomach ache. In Term 1 of 2009, after the pipe had been completed, there were only 14. Cases of diarrhea, vomiting, coughs and colds have all decreased, and the reported cases of malaria are down 50%!

The pipeline has even increased school enrollment from 844 to 967. That is 123 more children who can now attend school.

We are thrilled to see the decrease in sickness and disease and the increase in the quality of education among our students in Taru. She walks the dusty streets alone and afraid. Where will her next meal come from? Where will she sleep tonight? These are questions that I have never had to ask myself...have you?

The civil war raging in Uganda has ravaged the country. Families have been torn apart, countless lives have been lost, and scores of children have been left utterly alone and unprepared for life's challenges. This is the awful situation that thousands of Ugandan children find themselves in.

"Shadow children," a phrase the local people reserve for orphans, are considered an embarrassment and a burden. Their existence is not acknowledged. Many die alone and unnoticed.

Janipher is one of these "shadow children." She was once a young, vibrant, beautiful girl with loads of energy and excitement for life. Now she must struggle for survival, roaming the streets alone. Parentless, friendless, and without a family member to call her own, she jumps on a rickety old bus, unsure of her destination. She must go somewhere and find some sort of work to do, so she wanders from city to city struggling to survive. Each town she comes to seems to offer the same option: hard work for little reward and relentless mistreatment. She eventually comes to a small ghost town called Kaberamaido. Hoping this might be her place of salvation, she finds a family that will take her in as a maid which barely secures her next meal. She is a strong, motivated young lady. She has experienced more hardship by the age of 12 than many of us will in a lifetime.

Once again, Janipher is confronted with severe maltreatment on a daily basis. But she knows she must deal with it in order to survive. Is it worth it? Does she want to live to see tomorrow if it just means more of the horror she has already lived through? Would you? Will she ever find respite?
Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

Janipher is in the midst of shutting down emotionally and mentally when a real life miracle happens. The governor of Kaberamaido intervenes and takes Janipher to Asayo's Wish Foundation. It is a foundation focused on giving a child a reason to look forward to tomorrow. It helps orphaned, abused, and abandoned children and women improve their lives by educating them, teaching them basic business skills and providing vocational training.

When Janipher arrives at Asayo's Wish Foundation she has been so traumatized that she is unable to give them much information about her past. It is still unknown how old she was when her parents died, how long she has been traveling alone, or even where she came from.

Now all of her past, is past. She has been at Asayo's Wish Foundation- The Children's Village for two years: off of the streets, away from abuse, and given a new chance at life. Janipher had never had an opportunity to attend school before coming to The Children's Village. Now she stands proudly in her brilliant blue school uniform, at the age of 14, top of her class. Her smile could light up the entire continent of Africa.

Before reading this you knew nothing of Janipher. You did not know that both of her parents were killed in the civil war. You didn't know the fight for life she had to face everyday. But you also didn't know about how her existence changed, how one organization saved her from a life, or death, on the streets. One humble girl's life may not seem like much in the scheme of things, but it meant something to her, and it means something to the Asayo's Wish Foundation...what does it mean to you?

Great Meetings in Taiwan!

We had another great series of meetings over the last couple of days in Taiwan. The leaders here are amazing. We finished off a whirlwind three day tour on Saturday night and the turnouts were fantastic.

We introduced the new pilot recruiting program 287, and some of the leaders got so excited to try it out that they did not even wait for the meeting to end. Everyone in the hotel had been approached in an hour, employees, and guests alike and I thought we might just hang a Trivani sign right over the hotel's name as nearly everyone signed up!

The 287 rings true with the Taiwanese who are keenly aware of the hazards found in consumer products. Now they know that it is a much bigger issue than just lead in baby formula.

This is a fast moving market, and these folks don't mess around. They treat MLM as the legitimate business that it is, and they work hard. I'm very proud of Victor and his entire team.

July 22nd will be the next big rally in Taipei. Dee and I will be coming to town directly after the Japanese Event on the 20th of July in Tokyo. The Taiwan prelaunch has been set for October 24th, and it will be an incredible event.

Sustainable Cambodia

Sustainable Cambodia is a non-profit humanitarian foundation that works to develop impoverished villages into self-sustaining communities throughout Cambodia. The foundation works at the local level, promoting change village by village and striving to make these places attractive and livable. Those that are helped by SC agree to give aid to other families and communities within Cambodia, lifting the nation one community at a time. The foundation's staff is comprised solely of Cambodians: those who know their country and its people well and can then have a direct hand in lifting it from poverty, sickness, and suffering.

Trivani and Sustainable Cambodia are currently collaborating to construct a primary school in the Kravahn District.

CHOICE Humanitarian

CHOICE is a humanitarian organization that works to build underdeveloped villages into empowered, successful communities. CHOICE focuses on connecting villagers with the resources, tools, and opportunities they need to increase the health, education, and prosperity of their community. Its efforts are made most successful because they work with locals living within the villages they are striving to help, and they partner with both corporate and humanitarian organizations. This clinic will provide expensive surgeries to local villagers for only $25. Other health intervention services include developing health programs in dentistry and optometry, and decreasing the amount of AIDS and other diseases in these areas.
	*Globus Relief* Globus Relief has been helping to gather and distribute medical and other humanitarian supplies to over 300 humanitarian organizations in over 100 countries around the world. The organization works to match supplies to the countries who need them most, which inevitably allows certain organizations to reduce their costs and be more effective in their efforts to help others. In addition, Globus works to provide a way for manufacturers, distributors, and hospitals to donate their excess supplies easily. Globus is helping Trivani to ship needed supplies to impoverished places of the world for a very low cost.
	*Asayo’s Wish Foundation* Asayo’s Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization with its efforts focused mainly in Uganda. The founder of Asayo’s Wish, Sarah Asayo, grew up in Uganda and understands the terrible conditions that face many children and women there. The foundation is currently involved in housing 300 of the “Shadow Children,” thousands of children who were orphaned by war, and Trivani is sponsoring these children as well. Trivani is also working with Asayo’s Wish to construct a new orphanage facility for the orphans, where they can find clean water, ample food, and shelter from the violence that surrounds them. Other Asayo’s Wish projects include building schools in Northern Uganda, purchasing books for a children’s library, providing hospitals with medical equipment and supplies, and creating microfinance enterprises such as sewing machines for Ugandan communities.
	*Koins for Kenya* Koins for Kenya is a non-profit organization that is focused mainly on small, impoverished, rural villages in Kenya. Koins for Kenya helps Kenyan villages by paying for 90% of a project and allowing villages to pay the remaining 10%. Like Trivani, Koins for Kenya’s goal is to relieve the people but also educate them on how to continue providing for themselves without aid from others. The organization builds schools for villagers to learn more about farming, building clean water resources, and developing their villages into financially and economically successful areas. Koins for Kenya and Trivani have partnered on several different projects in Kenya, including the sponsoring of thousands of children and the construction of a new maternity ward.
	*Yehu Microfinance Bank* Yehu Microfinance Bank is a microfinance organization designed to bring impoverished communities in the rural coastal areas of Kenya out of poverty and into a better, fuller life. The organization works to provide communities with a series of loans, which villagers can use to start their own small businesses and build economic strength in their communities. Yehu’s goal is to not just give money to the people of these poor communities but to help them come out of their poverty themselves. Trivani is aiding Yehu Microfinance Bank by providing additional loans for Kenyan villages. Villagers have used these funds for businesses such as mosquito net distribution and clean water resources.

Yes Man

On the flight to Roatan I watched a nicely edited version of the movie Yes Man with Jim Carey. It has an interesting message about being open to all reasonable possibilities.

He says yes from everything to taking guitar lessons to learning to speak Korean and then uses these talents to help others. It's a pretty cool message.

In most cases he does not see an immediate benefit from saying yes, and in fact, endures brutal immediate consequences but positive results are eventually manifested.

It's fun to watch the character carefully navigate those who take advantage of his covenant to always say yes. He even undergoes scrutiny by authorities who can't understand why he says yes to everything. (My wife has accused me of this by the way.)

Saying yes opens Jim Carey’s character up to many new and exciting opportunities and he learns the power of reciprocity. When you labor to make other peoples’ lives better, they will be inspired to reciprocate that kindness when you may need it the most.

I have always felt that you will be better off in life if you are surrounded by people who want to see you win instead of being surrounded by people who want to see you lose.

Your Trivani business can be greatly influenced by the power of saying yes to those in need. You have opportunities to share compassionate ideals with others that can change and inspire.

The Child Rescue Mission in Roatan has begun!

The Child Rescue Mission here in Roatan has begun. There is a great group of hearty distributors who have joined us here to reach out to these amazing people. We spent the day in a small clinic that started as the dream of a great humanitarian, on her kitchen table, and has become a full blown medical facility.

When we arrived the line was long...mothers waiting patiently with children who were in need of medical attention and the care of a doctor. Only one doctor was in the clinic and he was working up a sweat. Nurses and other caregivers freely give of their time and talents to serve their fellow Hondurans.

This is truly a poor country. The signs of poverty surround us, even though Roatan is the richest island in the country the needs are great and I can only imagine the need that exists on the mainland.

Thanks to our good friends at Globus we were able to fill the shelves with medicines and other much needed supplies. We were also able to work in the newly constructed second floor that is being prepared as a birthing unit. Incubators and other equipment that had been donated were in need of being cleaned and disinfected and much of the day was spent preparing this equipment for use.

At the end of the day we gathered together and discussed the day’s events and strategized for the future. I can tell you that the pool at the hotel is one of the greatest offices you could ever hope to have.

I spent an incredible evening with Pastor Baily and his congregation last Wednesday in San Antonio. He allowed me to take a few minutes of his Wednesday evening service to discuss the power of turning consumption into compassion.

I was pleased and impressed with number of church members who were heavily engaged in the humanitarian process. It was clear to me that these good people are truly practicing what has been preached.

I enjoyed the opportunity because it was an appropriate venue for sharing my sincere belief that a higher power smiles upon the efforts of humanitarians who serve one another with great compassion.

It also gave me an opportunity to reflect on the experiences that I have had in the humanitarian realm and how they have changed me.
These experiences are so vivid and have left such an impression on me that it is impossible to forget even the smallest of details.

The small, frail boy I found lying outside of a village in Kenya - so sick and lethargic he could barely raise his mud caked arm to take my hand. He labored to turn his head and I will never forget the smile that he shared with me. It was fleeting, came through tremendous effort but was unmistakable. It was the only gift this boy had, and he was willing to share it with me... a complete stranger.

I walked away from that village with a dramatic desire to do something - anything, and the image of that boy laying in the dirt, compels me every day.

On another occasion I was asked to spend time in a makeshift tent hospital set up to care for malaria patients. It was very difficult to see people suffering through various stages of this illness, especially knowing that simple treatments would heal nearly all of them in short order.

One wing of the hospital was set aside for children in the last stages of life. The assignment to hold the small, quivering hands of those children as they pass away is the toughest assignment in the humanitarian experience. You can take strength only from knowing that, at very least, they are no longer suffering.

I watched a woman stand at the roadside for hours waiting for food trucks that never came. I heard her hungry children, moaning from inside their hut and I thought about how heart wrenching it must be to hear the suffering of your own children and not be able to give proper aid and comfort.

These were amazing people; God's children, having only one real desire...to live.

If I am ever asked why we have embarked on such ambitious endeavors, the answer is always the same and it's rather simple... It's because we can.

Because We Can.

There is no other reason under heaven that drives us as much as the fact that we CAN reach out to our fellow man, and because we can, we must.

It is THE quest to tackle and defeat the disease; the disease that strikes 18,000 people every 24 hours. The disease is starvation, and at Trivani, we believe we can lead the charge to rid the planet of death by starvation.

I had another remarkable conversation this morning with a gal who along with her husband is sponsoring children in five different countries around the globe. They have a total of 500 children receiving some level of support.

I asked her if the recession had impacted her ability to maintain support and of course she said yes. I asked her if she had a mechanism for creating humanitarian revenue outside of donations and she was a bit confused by this question. I explained that donations are a great source of revenue but they can be limited, especially in tough economic times.

I shared with her a news clipping I have in my office which declares, "Girl Scout Cookies Sales Crumble!". Yes, even the hearty girl scouts are struggling.

I then told her about the power of turning consumption into compassion by harvesting significant portions of the billions of dollars spent weekly on personal care products and nutritional supplements, and how organizations like hers could immediately benefit.

I have had this conversation over and over with good people who are sponsoring great campaigns but are limping through the recession. Donations are declining, not because people’s hearts have changed but because their wallets have.

Trivani is a rescue boat and if we can save even a portion of the 100,000 charities that are expected to go bankrupt this year, we will have accomplished something great.

Vannak and Sokly's Story May 20, 2009

Seventeen-year-old Vannak Long and his family of seven live in a small wooden home and struggle to survive as farmers in rural Cambodia. Vannak's father must travel great distances to work in Thailand, and both parents are typically absent from the home as they try to make ends meet. There are times when there is nothing to eat and no money to repair the family bicycle—their only form of transportation—and the struggle to keep the family going has put a strain on everyone. Vannak has opted to stay with his many small siblings and manage the household alone, but this situation has also made it very difficult for him to remain in school. He spends most of his free time helping to grow cabbage, cultivate the family land, and hopefully earn enough money to buy rice.

In addition to his family's poverty, Vannak has had to struggle with the requirements his education has placed on him. Vannak is in grade 9 and the nearest secondary school is 1 kilometer from his home. Since the family only has one bicycle, Vannak must walk the entire journey to and from school on foot, which takes several hours out of his already busy day. School supplies are also a problem. His family can barely afford the supplies he needs to do well in school. All of these contraints eventually compelled Vannak to drop out.

Fortunately, Vannak found the Kravahn Bright Future Center (KBFC) and now has the support and motivation he needs to continue his education until grade 12. Cambodia's current public school system is so poor, in rural areas in particular, that most students must supplement their schooling with private lessons in order to make it on to college. Vannak now has the opportunity to supplement his education with classes that will prepare him for life and further education. He even received a bicycle from the KBFC to make his travels easier.

Vannak is a pleasant, well-behaved student, and he is especially grateful for the friendly and professional KBFC teachers, who have helped him to improve his English, math, physics, Khmer, and chemistry. We hope he will continue to warm KBFC with his pleasant character and positive attitude until he finishes grade 12.

Seventeen-year-old Sokly Ouen and her family live in very similar conditions to Vannak's family: All ten family members live in a small wooden home and struggle to survive as farmers in rural Cambodia. The family's poverty requires that every member help out with family responsibilities, so Sokly spends much of her time helping to care for her younger siblings, cook meals, carry water, find firewood, sweep the home, wash dishes, and look for buffalo.

Like Vannak, Sokly has had a very difficult time earning her education. To attend grade 9 at the nearest secondary school, Sokly must travel 3 kilometers each way—an impossible task in combination with her many responsibilities at home. Her family also cannot afford school supplies or a bicycle and food for her journey. This situation left Sokly with no other choice but to drop out of school.

Until Sokly found KBFC, she had never received supplemental education. Now, Sokly can enjoy the support she needs to complete her schooling and hopefully make her way to college. The KBFC has been a great opportunity for Sokly, and she is very grateful for the things she is learning there. She also received a bicycle from the school so she can travel much more quickly to and from her home. We hope she will continue to grace the school with her presence until she finishes grade 12 and can move on to bigger and better things.

Megan Visits Nepal and Cambodia!

During the month of May, Megan McMillan, VP of the Trivani Foundation®, will be visiting sponsored students, schools, and communities throughout the Himalayan Range in Nepal and rural villages of Cambodia. On her agenda in Nepal, Megan will be attending inaugurations of Janapriya Primary School in Neta, Sanskriti Sadan Secondary School in Archaleni, Sewa Sadan Secondary School in Purankot, and Gloval Vision Primary School in Gairaghar. Each school has been newly constructed or renovated thanks to Trivani Guardians.

In Cambodia, Megan will be visiting the students of the Kravanh Bright Future Center and will personally congratulate Lorh Shinh Chhinh, recipient of the prestigious United World College scholarship in Singapore, for her excellence. Megan will also visit students of Veal Primary School in Veal Village. For the past year, these students have enjoyed the close proximity of their Trivani-funded Veal Primary School. Before the facility was constructed, the children had to bike three hours a day to earn their education.

Student of Trivani-Sponsored Kravahn Bright Future Center Receives Prestigious Scholarship to Singapore

The Trivani Foundation® received some incredible news a few weeks ago. Lorh Shinh Chhinh, one of our students in the Kravahn Bright Future Center (KBFC), has been awarded a scholarship to study at the United World College in Singapore for 5 years. That isn't the absolutely amazing part, however. This scholarship is awarded to only two students out of the entire country of Cambodia. Two! Chhinh is featured in the above left picture with her many friends at the KBFC and in the above right picture (third from the left) with her sister, mother, and father.

Chhinh and her family are very excited about this fantastic opportunity for her to enhance her education, explore new places around the globe, and hopefully return with the knowledge and ability to help improve the circumstances of her family and her community. The Trivani Foundation is enormously proud of Chhinh for her hard work and dedication the past year. We were able to provide her with the opportunity for a better education, and she took the opportunity and ran with it. She is a great example to the rest of the students in the KBFC, who are working hard to follow in her footsteps.

Church organizations and Trivani

I spent the weekend in Fort Lauderdale with a group of incredible human beings. Congratulations to Pastor Royce, Eddie, Pastor Daley, Fred, and several others for hosting a powerful seminar.

It is always an incredible experience to spend time with members of the various churches. I love the passion, the commitment to God, and the desire they have to serve humanity.

The church organizations are embracing the mission of Trivani because for the first time ever, they can build a network whose focus and goal is to help the needy. There is a lot of talk about the economy today. Everybody has a different opinion as to where we are and how to fix it. Lots of discussion about stimulus packages and how much they should be and how the money should be spent. It's an important discussion and something that all of us pay attention to, but there is something that I believe is much more important than this broader discussion, and that is what your personal economy is managing.

We all know the network marketing industry does well in times of economic strife, but http://trivani.net/ has gone completely off the charts. Maybe it is because we are a ground-floor, extremely unique opportunity. Maybe it is because we have a patented process unlike the world has seen to date for caring for children. Or maybe it really is simple destiny. Maybe the success of this company is tied directly to the need that exists in the world today. There have never been more people who have required assistance, and it comes at a time when people have less to give.

I believe that the most important economy to you and me is our personal economies. We have created a business model that reaches well beyond the traditional borders of traditional network marketing. Up until Trivani came on the scene, potential distributors were drawn to either buy a product or create potential prosperity, or a combination of both. But we have found a very powerful way to reach well beyond these masses and into new and exciting markets. This is a model that reaches out to humanitarians of all kinds. This is a model that reaches out to any human being that believes in helping another human being. How big is the pool of people that fit into that category? The answer is nearly everyone, and that means that everyone is a candidate to say YES to Trivani.

I have seen our industry act like the biggest game of musical chairs in business history. The music stops, and anyone who is disgruntled with their current situation simply moves to another network. This has always been a great frustration of mine because I really believe in the PIE IS BIG philosophy. There is room for everyone to play and no need to pick the apples off of anybody else's tree. It is refreshing to be a part of a concept that even people who normally would not explore network marketing or may have determined they would never participate in MLM are eager to wholly embrace. This is the reason I believe that Trivani can become one of the great network marketing companies of all time. It is simple math: the more people you can reach out to effectively, the more people you can bring in to your business.

Oxygen Positive Is Coming

I have appreciated the great feedback I have received regarding the incredible environmental initiative Trivani will be officially launching this fall. Oxygen Positive™ is coming, and it will change the way that everyone thinks about the environment.

There has been much discussion about determining our "carbon footprint" and finding ways to offset emissions created by simply living and going about our duties. There are some who believe that the planet is suffering from global warming and some who don't, but that is an argument that takes a back seat to the simple notion that the environment is a gift and our stewardship should be to pass it on in better condition than we received it. After all, it is our posterity that directly benefits (or not) from the choices we make.

The Oxygen Positive initiative (OP) has been designed to tackle one very important task: to go beyond simply "offsetting" our carbon footprints and creating a net positive environmental impact. If you are creating "X" amount of carbon currently, OP will create opportunities to produce "X plus" oxygen to offset your footprint. OP then creates additional opportunities for tremendous carbon dioxide to be eliminated.

The primary source for the power to do this can be found in the Super Trivania Trees that are now being farmed in two locations globally. Can you imagine a tree that creates 10 times the amount of oxygen of a regular, full-grown tree while eliminating 900% more carbon dioxide! It is almost too good to be true.

By simply planting these trees and calculating the oxygen output and co2 neutralization, we can easily determine how many of these trees must be growing in various stages to create a net oxygen positive environment. These trees are fully mature within five years, and they are capable of growing in nearly any environment. (Yes, even our partners in Minnesota and Wisconsin can grow these trees right in their own yards!) They generate a beautiful flower in the spring, and when they reach maturity, they can be harvested at the trunk and will immediately begin to grow back!

We have farms now operating in Australia, and soon, in Brazil. Jason Golly will be in Brazil this week with top government officials to open the facility and begin a major reforestation project in the rain forest. Now that is cool stuff!

Many of you have heard me speak about the power of our industry. It is an industry with great strength and influence. It is an industry that sets trends and boldly goes where few others dare tread. It is an industry that launches the most unique products found in the consumer market place. (The big retailers love to watch what we do so that they can enter the market with a cheapo version at a reduced price to benefit from our collective word of mouth.)

It is an industry that creates wealth universally, and it is a respecter of those who labor and a disrespecter of those who do not (at least at first). It is driven by the opportunity to cast a big "net" and "work" at your own pace, "marketing" in ways that suit your personal dynamic. "Network marketing."

There are a lot of great companies.
There are a lot of great products.
There are a lot of great comp plans.
There are a lot of great intentions.
There are a lot of voices.

So how in the world can you possibly be heard in a space where there are so many competitors speaking?

Our Goals

The Trivani Foundation’s approach to humanitarian aid is not only to relieve the suffering of the sick and impoverished but also to help them develop their villages into successful, self-sustaining communities.

Relief

Every 30 seconds, an African child dies of Malaria. Every 14.4 seconds, another person dies of HIV/AIDS. Every 3.6 seconds, another person dies of starvation. These people don’t have time for development—they’re dying, and they need our help now. Trivani provides relief in the form of emergency food, medicine, mosquito nets, and more to help people in extreme poverty. Once these people have been stabilized and have come back from the brink of death, they’re ready for development.

Development

More than 2.7 billion people in the world live on less than two dollars per day. They walk more than a mile just to collect unsanitary water; they live in societies where even one year of basic education is rare; they suffer and die from preventable diseases that rich countries eradicated decades ago. Trivani provides development by digging wells, building and funding schools, teaching trade skills, providing small business loans, and more. With these development programs, countries can become independent of others’ aid and help their people to live better, more hopeful lives.

Maricel Ramos Receives her Prosthetic Leg

“Now on two stable feet, Maricel proudly stands and shows me how she can manage to walk with ease—even on the stairs. She jokingly told me how beautiful she feels now that she has two strong and balanced feet. I’m one of those who witnessed a great transformation in Maricel after the day we gave her the artificial leg. During our short visit, she showered me with gratitude and told me how she will treasure the chance we have given her to lead a better life.

“Her high school Alma Mater, Tungkop High School, is also very excited about her leg. They said that in one of their candid conversations, they have talked about how nice it would be to see her walk on graduation day. Indeed, with all smiles and humility, Maricel walked toward the stage with the aid of her new artificial leg. Maricel told me with teary eyes that she could see her teachers crying and heading in her direction to hug her for joy. It was one emotional night that she will never forget!

“Now that she’s renewed, she told me that she will use her story to strengthen her group. You see, she’s the president of the disability groups of DSDW in their area.

“She wanted to extend her heartfelt gratitude to Mabuhay (Deseret International) and Trivani for making her life more meaningful. Meet Daniel

Daniel is a bright, energetic boy living in the dumps of Taytay, Philippines. He is ambitious and has an amazing sense of worth and wants to succeed in life.

Even though he has been raised down in the dumps, he is far from being "down in the dumps." He is excited about the future, and Trivani is excited to partner with a great team of caregivers who are dedicated to giving Daniel an opportunity to leave the life of a Scavenger Child behind for good.

Daniel was injured one day at the dumpsite when a bottle broke and shards of glass went deep into his left eye. There was no way to treat the eye, and Daniel’s father agonized as he watched his son rub his irritated eye until the glass had completely destroyed the delicate tissues.

The eye is swollen and has turned completely white and gray. It protrudes from the eye socket and appears to be very painful.

As I looked down at this beautiful little boy, he smiled at me and said in a confident little voice, "I know that God gave me two eyes just in case one gets broke." I was so taken aback by the character of this child that it was difficult to respond. I swallowed hard a few times and told him that because of his courage, he would see far more in his life with one eye than most people see with two.

It is children like Daniel that drive me to want to make a difference, and with the support of Trivani Humanitarians around the globe, we ARE making a difference.

Daniel thanked us for our support, and I thank all of you for making that support possible. The Scavenger Children are being cared for by our marvelous Filipino Trivani Child Guardians, and because the market is growing quickly, so too is our humanitarian reach.

These people have a great desire to improve their lives—they simply lack the opportunity to do so.

Our foundation works hard to plan and implement projects that will not only relieve the suffering of underdeveloped communities but also provide education and financial support for the start of a more successful life—independent of others’ aid. We have already implemented several projects for this purpose, and we have many others in the planning stages for upcoming months.

“Happy Feet”
Maricel Ramos Receives Life-Changing Help

Maricel Ramos has suffered severe deformity since birth. Both her legs and arms bear the weight of malformation. “But even with all of those deformations, you can’t really see any bitterness in her eyes. She is funny and somehow able to handle her situation with a happy disposition,” Erwin Boiser, Philippines country manager, explains. “In our short encounter with her, she never failed to make us laugh and somehow feel good about the situation.”

After meeting Maricel, Erwin decided that she was eligible for a prosthetic limb. “This made her really excited, and she told us that that would be really nice. Since that time, she never failed in texting me and updating me on some of her excitements about her coming prosthetic leg,” Erwin says. “Maricel came to Cebu for a fitting for the moldings of her prosthetic leg. That encounter made the impression that this girl was an extraordinary one. She makes every person around her happy and inspired. The way she looks at her situation and the happy disposition she has is contagious. That’s why she reminds me of the movie Happy Feet. A week from now, she will have her prosthetic leg with her favorite pink boots—that was part of her special request, that we fit a pair of pink boots for her prosthetic leg.”

Maricel says, “I will never anymore be the shame of my friends and family. I can go and walk wherever I want and be completely confident and happy that no one will make fun or laugh at me.”

The Scavenger Children

I was reminded once again why we have embarked on this incredible humanitarian mission, as I spent time with the amazing Scavenger Children living in a dump just outside of Manila, Philippines. This amazing group of children has found a way to survive by eating the garbage from the dump, and by scavenging plastic and other recyclable garbage. A hard day’s work in the dump will generate two US dollars and has proven to be just enough to keep these children alive. When I became aware of the plight of the Scavenger Children, I was immediately taken by their incredible will to live and the desire they have to make a better life for themselves and for their families.

I met child after child who had been orphaned primarily because of tragic incidents that occurred at the dump site. Many children watched as their parents were crushed by garbage being dumped out of the trucks. These were parents who were eager to be able to grab the “best garbage” and, in their eagerness to be at the front of the line of scavengers, were crushed as the garbage was dumped from the trucks. I also met children who had lost their parents because of dump truck accidents. I met children who had lost their sight because of the difficult environment at the dump site. I met children who were ill because of these hazardous conditions as well.

It became very apparent to me that the Scavenger Children would become the first official group of Filipino children to be sponsored in the Philippines. I met a couple of pastors who have embraced these children and are working diligently to give them a safe place to live, clean water and food, and a place for them to be educated. It truly is a labor of love, and one that Trivani is very pleased to be a part of. The Filipino distributors have set a goal to sponsor 100,000 children by the end of 2009. This is an incredible goal, but at their current rate of growth enthusiasm, I have no doubt that it will be achieved. This massive sponsorship will be a great complement to the 2,500 surgical procedures that I believe will be completed by the end of the year. We are already above 1,300 and counting fast.

Some of our Filipino distributors living in the United States have asked if they can sponsor Filipino children, and the answer is yes! When your distributor application comes into the company, please make the special requests on the floor, and it will be granted. We have identified many children already, and our team of employees working on the ground in the Philippines is working quickly to identify thousands more.

Opportunity or Responsibility

When Trivani burst onto the scene last year, there were a lot of people, even in the humanitarian community, who thought that the concept was not only revolutionary and even "kind of cool" but also that it was just another money producer in a long line of traditional organizations. In just a few short months, as the economy has continued to erode and donations have declined dramatically, the mood has changed considerably.

Trivani has quickly gone from "kind of a cute idea" to absolutely necessary in the minds of our humanitarian partners. They are amazed that our contributions are increasing at a time when virtually every other source is drying up. We know why, and we predicted it, but they just shake their heads and are thrilled to be associated with Trivani and benefitting from all of your efforts. They can't figure out how, in such desperate times, our giving increases.

Of course, our humanitarian success is not based on donations; it is based on humanitarians who rally around a brand dedicated to serving needy children. Simple as that. In short order, Trivani has set a new and exciting standard by tying goodness to traditional consumption. Trivani says it's Ok to be socially responsible first instead of last. It is a standard of business that could inspire countless organizations to follow suit, and the biggest NGOs are noticing.

There is no telling how far we will take all of this, but our goals are very clear. We will sponsor 1,000,000 children in 60 months. We will become the major corporate contributor to the eradication of poverty.

We will become the leading corporate sponsor of the end of starvation on this planet. This goal could take 15 years, but it can happen. The United Nations believes it can happen. Their horizons are further but that is because they are not aware of our initiatives.

• Cataract clinic: A cataract clinic has been completed with the aid of the Leslie DeAnn Foundation, the Trivani Foundation, and Deseret International. The clinic helps restore sight to some people that haven’t seen their friends and family in years.

• Surgeries: The Trivani Foundation has helped to sponsor about 600 facial reconstructive and cataract surgeries thus far. These surgeries are made possible by our many partners, who help us to leverage the enormous cost of each surgery into something more affordable.

• Surgical screenings: The Trivani Foundation has organized two surgical screenings in Lapu-Lapu city. Combined, Trivani has assessed the needs of over 150 people. These people now have the opportunity to qualify for a free surgery. These surgeries have immeasurable, life-changing effects.
